You can use both the Square POS app and the TotilPay Register app on the same iPad to process EBT, credit, and debit transactions. Follow the steps below to complete a transaction using both apps:
đź›’ 1. Start the Sale in Square POS
Open the Square POS app on your iPad.
Begin a new transaction.
Add items to the cart or manually enter the total purchase amount.
When prompted for a payment method, select “Other” as the tender type (this tells Square that payment is being handled outside of their system).
🔄 2. Switch to TotilPay Register
Minimize or switch from the Square app.
Launch the TotilPay Register app.
đź’ł 3. Process the EBT Payment in TotilPay
Tap the “Transaction” button in TotilPay Register.
Swipe the customer’s EBT card using the TotilPay card reader.
The customer will enter their PIN within the TotilPay app.
Wait for the transaction to process and confirm it has been approved.
↩️ 4. Return to Square POS and Finalize the Sale
Switch back to the Square POS app.
Tap “Complete Checkout” to finish the transaction on Square’s side.
đź’° Settlement Details
Square will handle the settlement of credit and debit card transactions.
TotilPay will process and settle the EBT portion of the transaction.
Please note:
TotilPay users who use Square for debit/credit cannot process a void or return via the TotilPay apps (Go or Register). To do a return or a void, you will need to log in to your Square dashboard to be able to do so.
