Will I be able to process transactions when my state implements EBT Chip Cards?

Answer: Yes, you will still be able to process transactions once your state implements EBT cards with smart chips. Transaction processing will not be interrupted with the implementation of EBT chip cards.

As of this date, EBT chip cards are not currently processing transactions in TotilPay via the chip-reader; however, any EBT chip card CAN still be swiped via the card's magnetic stripe when processing a transaction. Additionally, card numbers can still be entered manually if a magnetic stripe is worn or not working.

When the chip card integration is ready, it will come in the form of an app update. Be sure to keep your TotilPay app up to date.

Additionally, the TotilPay-compatible card readers that are currently being issued (the bbPOS Chipper 3X BT) are chip-compatible. Those using these readers will not need to purchase a new card reader when the software update happens. For those using older models that are not chip-reader compatible, the magstripe (card swiping) will still function.
